About the Artist
Joyfully Maximal
Marianne Wilson is a Brisbane-based artist and former London-based textile designer whose work is inspired by an abundance of colour, gardens, and everyday beauty.
Born in South Africa, Marianne spent many years travelling and working in textile design before turning her focus to painting. Beginning with watercolour and later moving into acrylic and oil, her work celebrates Australian flora, classic interiors, and decorative porcelain. Her garden in The Gap and her collection of ginger jars remain constant sources of inspiration.
Alongside her original artworks, Marianne has designed homewares including cushions, tablecloths, and dishtowels. Today, her focus is on large-scale paintings created as statement pieces for the home.
Her work has been exhibited in and around Brisbane and is now a family enterprise, with her husband, Ewan, hand-framing many pieces using locally sourced wood.
